Adding a service update callout message

Home » Scenic docs » Bus, coach, rail or ferry routes » Adding a service update callout message

The service update callout is a highlighted message that appears prominently on your listing page. Use it to flag temporary changes — a diversion, a suspended service, a late timetable update, or anything else passengers need to know right now.

Where to find it

In the route editor, go to Timetable > Service update.

What to write

Keep it brief and specific. Tell passengers exactly what’s changed and where to find more information. A good callout message is one or two sentences — something like: “This route is currently operating a temporary diversion between Ambleside and Grasmere. Check our website for the latest timetable.”

Tips

  • Remove the message once the situation is resolved — a stale service update is worse than none at all
  • Include a link to more detailed information if you have one
  • Write in plain language — avoid internal codes or jargon that passengers won’t understand
  • Don’t use this field for permanent information; that belongs in your marketing description or timetable fields
