So confident of hot weather was I that I left my house wearing shorts. Cut to the penultimate day of the trip where it&#8217;s raining so hard I had to, sadly, abandon my plans. But that&#8217;s enough about my weather woes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My inspiration for the trip<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I was inspired to begin planning the trip after spotting a photograph of Stagecoach&#8217;s 77 traversing the Honister Pass on the Stagecoach enthusiast Facebook group (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/stagecoachuk\/\">worth joining if you haven&#8217;t already<\/a>). I had never been to the Lake District before and was keen to explore the area, plus I thought I would use this as an opportunity to travel with Virgin, as I had never had the pleasure before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Highlights of the trip:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image u-image--full-width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"825\" height=\"275\" src=\"https:\/\/witterings.mangopear.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/07\/coastliner-gemini-in-whitby.jpg\" alt=\"A Yorkshire Coastliner Gemini waiting time in Whitby\" class=\"wp-image-139\" srcset=\"https:\/\/creativefruitbowl.com\/our-witterings\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/coastliner-gemini-in-whitby.jpg 825w, https:\/\/creativefruitbowl.com\/our-witterings\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/coastliner-gemini-in-whitby-300x100.jpg 300w, https:\/\/creativefruitbowl.com\/our-witterings\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/07\/coastliner-gemini-in-whitby-768x256.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Yorkshire Dales<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I had previously travelled on Transdev&#8217;s Yorkshire <strong>Coastliner route 840<\/strong> all the way from Leeds to Whitby &#8211; but it was dark, cold and raining.
